6 AM and the echo of a seagull
This is the title of a print, and the title of my art project in the westernmost island municipality in Norway, Solund, summer 2025. People and nature in Solund were my childhood paradise. Many of my works are inspired by this place and this environment. I place some of these works on different locations in Solund.
Among other things, a print (frottage) of my quay at Mårstig in Strandavågen will be displayed in the old shop on Lågøy. The place here was important when I was a child. We came there by boat from Bergen. And on Saturday we were here to shop and meet people.
In my boathouse at Mårstig, small books will float on plexiglass plates. The work is called "Driftwood" and is inspired by driftwood my uncle, Ingvald Mårstig, had collected to use in the stove in the winter.
In Barbravika I will explore the landscape, among other things, by physically standing in the water and developing cyanotype prints.
On Sunday, August 24th, there will be an art tour to the sites by boat. We start at Hardbakke with an artist talk led by the author Katrine Sele.
On Sunday, August 24th, I finished the project "0600 and the echo of a seagull" with an artist talk and a fully loaded boat.

An evening visit to the boathouse exhibition.
After four weeks in Solund time for playing with blue colors. Tactile exploration of the landscape with cyanotypi for the first time.
Wednesday July 30, the installation “Landingsplassen” is inspired by Japanese philosophy where rocks have a soul. The rope frames a holy space. On the rope Japanese foulding “shide” - I use a map of my plot in Barbravika in Solund. The stone is in the middle of my plot.
Thursdag july 24, in the work "Rings in Stone" I use screw caps from Norgesglas as binoculars. The circle gives an extra opportunity to observe. I love the stone landscape, and stone is the theme of the installations in Barbravika.
